Beyond the Books|Did I Ever Wake Up? by Mod Sun

7:20pm. My couch. Michigan.

Hello, all. It’s been a long time since I’ve written anything, but I am back for the summer! I decided that I want to read at least two books a month, but hopefully more! However, because I am an easily distracted being, I wanted to find a way to hold myself accountable for actually opening a book and reading it. I don’t know how many people will even read these — if any — but I know this will help me keep up with my goal, so here I am, presenting to you “Beyond the Books”, where I will be telling you my honest opinions on what I read. First up:

Did I Ever Wake Up? by Mod Sun

Rating: ★★★☆☆

This book was something I’ve been trying to get my hands on for nearly 3 years now. When I heard of Mod Sun, I was immediately drawn to his energy like I’d never been drawn to anyone before. He is such a light in a world that is so prone to darkness, especially now. For that reason, I knew I wanted to read his words in the most serious, yet meaningful form, and have them on my book shelf so that I had access to them whenever I wanted.

When I first started reading it, I had a feeling it was going to confirm everything I knew, and teach me so much more about my part in the universe. One of the very first full sentences in the book is “everything you are can become everything you were,” and with that sentence alone, I knew this was exactly what I needed to be reading. I already practiced the law of attraction long before reading this, which is a lot of what this book is about. However, a lot of the ways he put the works of the law into perspective, and explained situations in which the law is proven to work, and that was something that was really eye opening. Sometimes, putting all of the pressure on you, which is exactly what the law is, is really scary. You are in complete control of your life, and that is exactly how it is meant to be. No matter how hard the journey is, the destination is completely customizable depending on how you over come the struggles.

As for the actual writing in this book, it was right to the point and really nothing more. It was  only about 70 pages, and I read it in less than 2 hours. There were a few typos, but nothing too hard to figure out and move on from. There was not any fantastic vocabulary, or intense uses of punctuation, but I don’t think that a book like this needed it. Everything said in this book was said exactly how it needed to be, and for that, it received the rating I gave it.

I will forever cherish this book and always go back to it whenever I feel like I don’t believe in myself. I know this for certain. Thank you, Mod Sun, for these words. I love your mind and energy with all of me, and I so hope that we can meet someday.

Thank you to everyone who read this, I can’t wait to share more with you! I have already started my next book which is Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon, and I am really enjoying it so far, so we will see!

Talk to you soon!

Caitlyn xx
